Job and Education upgrade; please I need your advice seriously

#1 Job and Education upgrade; please I need your advice seriously
03/06/2013 10:59

stan ugo

I am Stan. I am currently working with a company. I have a HND as a qualification and in Nigeria, this qualification, although a graduate of a discipline, is not rated equal with BSc in all ramifications.

Because of this qualification I can't do my Masters degree because I ve to do a PGD first. And I can't even apply for scholarships as they all need Bachelors degree for such.

Now I want to get a bachelors degree to be able to beat up my career professionally and academically. But my problem is that my current work place is my means of income and the nature of the job wouldn't give ♍ξ the full capacity to study and attend lectures and if my company even finds out I am studying under their employ, they ll go as far as terminating my employ with them.

But I can't remain a HND holder and I want to move on, but my means of income is at stake. I am in a dilemma and not knowing which side to hold on to as the two sides are important to ♍ξ.

Please your advice are needed urgently and I really appreciate u in advance.

Thank you

Stan

Stan worry no more about finance. It sounds like you will soon be successful and expect to be earning 100k per month. On this basis if you ask BEP or Camster nicely here they will publish their bank details and you can call down some money from them. I'd give you mine but I've just invested in a cask of Bavarian Whiskey so times are hard.

$0.02 to stan ugo (#5)

Stan,

What you have written is tantamount to saying I have 2 choices A & B. But there is no way I can do B. Which choice shall I make?

You are basically saying you want further education but can't because you haven't the funds to do it full time, and your 'contract' of work forbids you to do it part time.

If you present another option that is actually doable, you may just get some of the advice you are after.

I'd advise you get a better paid job that will help with funding towards your education (provided it's relevant).

Next problem please.

Arby the Manager to tom1 (#7)

Hi Stan

I suggest you look at trading in your HND for an STD (which is the hot topic now). Any institution worth its salt will be able to give you an STD within a few weeks of hard work (you can even ask the receptionist if she has one to give you).

But I completely agree with you that being an HND holder is not the way forward. Have you considered a New Organizational Development and Design for the Young certificate? Once you're a NODDY Holder the world is really your oyster.

Hope this helps!

Aww Assman you're too sweet. You should come on here more often. We can always do with more pillocks to ridicule especially during the early week "down" time. I especially liked your "lets boast about how much we all earn" post.... I'm glad that your mediocre job, laughably low salary and un impressive experience are consoled by the fact you live in....ahem...Sydney....

Mr Cool to stan ugo (#1)

can't quite believe I'm doing this....but....

Stan, there is only one answer to this dilemma and it really is very simple.

1. Obtain a NEW job where your HND is enough to get the job, but your new employer does not mind that you want to better yourself by continuing to study in your own time outside of work.

2. Take many years to complete the BSc.

3. Apply for a new job at BSc level

Mr Cool to Assman (#9)

"like" ?

To be fair Arby, Assman's name and vocabulary suggest he is most likely a 14 year old boy (and quite possibly one with "confused feelings") so that was really quite an impressive salary for his age.

Arby the Manager to Mr Cool (#13)

Good call Mr Cool..!

I'd even go further to suggest he's on his Gap Year, trying to pass off spending 6 months serving pints in a hairy-assed Ozzie backpacker's hostel as "work" (to be translated onto a CV as "extensive world travel and multi-cultural experiences") and hasn't exactly realized that the high cost of living in Sydney with his salary actually gives him a relatively low standard of living...

Tom's right. And besides, the main issue here is that curious use of symbols to spell the word ♍ξ - not just once, but twice! I wonder what the deeper meaning is to the use of symbols to spell the word ♍ξ ?
