Hi guys,

Just looking for input on a potential international move, currently can only see positives (apart from the heat!) so it would be good to get some views to bring it down to earth.

I've been with current firm for about 3.5 years, generally pretty good performance reviews(top half generally, and last year top 25%), not a massive high flyer. I've been promoted on time etc. Most of my experience is government public sector and utilities.

I've been given the possible option to go to work in Dubai for 2 years, with my current firm, with right to return to the UK, the work focus is on the sectors I have experience in, and it's something I'm really keen to do, and the people who I would be working with are also some UK staff who are seen as pretty high performers (a few soon to be partners etc). I don't have a mortgage/family/girlfriend/pets over here so I don't really have anything holding me back and I'm still pretty young, couple of years shy of thirty so I think this is a good time to do it.

Currently can't see many cons other than the heat which, being scottish, will probably ruin me. Does anyone have experience of working out there, or generally doing long terms abroad who can offer some thoughts on the things you wish you knew before going?
