consulting to Big4 Transaction - Break in strategy?

#1 consulting to Big4 Transaction - Break in strategy?

Hi everyone, first time posting, hope this has not been covered before, apologies if so.

Im wondering if any one has any advice on this: I want to go from consulting to a transactions/corporate finance role with a Big4. Other than networking and leveraging my current skills/experience, I am thinking of doing a professional qualification: either an accountancy qualification or the CFA (maybe not the whole thing but up to level 2).

I am interested in M&A advisory. What options are available within the Big4 for this sort of stuff? I have heard some firms mainly do commercial due diligence and other act like a mini-IB, modeling, pitching and brokering deals (mid-markets and private companies mainly) which is more what I am interested in.

I do not have a finance background hence my thoughts to do either the ACCA or part of the CFA. I work in the consulting business of a blue chip tech company but I am part of its management consulting division.. coming to 2 years exp.

Would love to hear your thoughts.
