I am currently a manager in Infy. How does it compare with Cognizant Manager/Senior Manager?
|
do you mean Infosys? If so one is a reputable place to be, doing a credible job of outgrowing the India BPO tag and starting to show some real quality...the other the less said the better.
|
well...that may be a perception...inside Infosys is not so great. There is an opportunity in Cognizant, hence wanted to compare....

I can read mars's post either way in terms of being pro Infosys vs Cognizant - mars could you elaborate? I'd be very interested to know more, mainly about Cognizant.
Can anyone shed more light on Cognizant's reputation and what it's like to work there?
Is it a vaguely reasonable name to have on your CV when the time comes to move on?
Thx,
Jedzi

Inf v Cog - Inf better place to be if you want to work on the business, not much between them on the tech side to be honest, but Inf seems to enjoy a stronger brand as Cog have not really shrugged off a bodyshop image, not matter whether that is justified. Reality is that these BPO business looking to mature into advisory type work are still SI operations with only a small MC element. If you want SI work then Inf carries the better brand, and is seen as being perhaps a bit closer to joining the tier 2 ranks, Cog has good client roster I've been told, but is still just an extension of the BPO platform, and heavily staffed from the BPO side on secondments. Inf working to build some IP in core markets (albeit a little late in some eg capital markets) Cog just offers cheap tech resource.
My money would be on Inf not Cog. But that's just my opinion and of course other opinions are available.

Mars,
Thanks for the info, very useful stuff. I'm more on the tech side, but I'm thinking about whether to go for an opportunity with Cognizant, so it's very interesting to hear some thoughts on their reputation.
If anyone else as any informed experiences / opinions about what it's like to work at Cognizant or what it's like to have them on your CV, that would be much appreciated.

Hi I have been part of Cognizant for 3 and a half years. cognizant has done a clever thing by creating a service line called Cognizant business Consulting , which is a pool of Business Analysts.
Work wise there is not much consulting more business analysis work.
Also recently senior manager in Cognizants are now given an ego boosting designation of Associate Director!
Depending on what your life's aim is :Among all the Indian System integrator companies Cognizant is the best. TCS is the worst. This is my opinion. Wipro blindly follows Infy.
Rest everybody is a body shopper , Cognizant sugar coats it better :)
