Paranoia

I'd imagine if you stopped repeating the same posting over and over, it wouldn't be deleted.

Your post has been answered on the next page, in any case

It was deleted.

I suspect, because you ticked off a top consultant.

It's an engineering place isn't it - so I am sure it will be like every other engineering place. Probably crappy pay, nerdy colleagues, very few women. Just a guess. I don't actually know. I am not a consultant. But I have worked in engineering places and they're crap.

Sorry no help - but at least it's polite no help.

No it has not..

If you are referring to one response that mainly takes the piss out of the request then I do not think this counts as an adequate response.

I would expect more constructive advice - and as for it not being a reputable firm, I think many readers need to widen the net in terms of consulting players as they are an emerging player. Consulting is more than just Accenture and the big 4.

management

In case you haven't noticed, Top-Consultant caters to MANAGEMENT and some IT consultants, not engineering consultants.

[grad] John McBride

What type of engineer are you?

Structural engineers have the likes of Jacobs-Babtie to go to, I have seen PA Consulting advertise for Electronic Engineers in Digital Signal Processing!! (which was a bit wierd)

Anyway - it's just the unfortunate case that no one on here knows anythign about it, so when top consultants don't know something they get rude :)

Funny that people do not consider them MANAGEMENT consultants - I was just there for interview and they are one of a few firms who have won all sections of the CATALIST framework within MANAGEMENT consultancy.

Get your facts straight and stop being so narrow minded.

To John McBride - I am a MANAGEMENT consultant established in the field and am looking at Mott's growing MANAGEMENT consulting arm.

I apologise, although there's nothing insulting about calling someone an engineer!

Hopefully when you acquire some knowledge of this company you will share it with all the top consultants on here, and me.

Looking at their website Management Consultancy is but 1 of a matrix of 16 expertise areas. The majority of their skill areas looks like typical Civil Engineering and a bit of software - what an eclectic mix!

Many of their graduate profiles [careers section] are Masters of Engineering in Environmental Planning and the like.

Looks like you will be pioneering for the TC website in engaging with this firm!

lofty to [grad] John McBride (#10)

MM are more than competent in the engineering field but do not rank in the top 100 Management Consultancies. I would think that if you were looking to break into Management Consultancy (and not engineering) it would be an odd choice. Why not approach a company (not necessarily one of the big 4/5) who have a strong foothold in the area(s) that you would like to explore? Just a thought.

Agree with Lofty that it would be an odd choice.

MM, it seems, are trying to break into what we might call business advisory consulting but they do not have a developed reputation in this area. Judging by the comments on this forum, they do not seem to have developed respect across the consulting industry although I wouldnt take that too seriously! However, I can't see MM appearing on the CV would enhance your chances of stepping onto one of the more established players. Interestingly, they are not yet figuring on any of the competitor analysis my firm are doing - perhaps we are behind the curve or perhaps MM have yet to establish themselves in our space.

I have heard, however, that MM have won some small contracts in central government - so perhaps they are getting a consulting business together.
