I am a 30 yr old medical research scientist educated to PhD level, currently at the end of the first year of (part time) study for an MBA (from a recognised British school). Does anyone have any advice about how best to pursue a career in management consultancy from this position? What options will be open to me, given my specialised knowledge, and would my current level of education make me a viable applicant for entry into this career at the moment (with the intention of continuuing my education). Thank you for any Advice that you can give,
Mark
PA Consulting has a very strong life sciences practice and your background could be ideal.
There are several consultancy firms that deal with life sciences.
Wood Mackenzie based in Edinburgh (have offices in London).
Cambridge Consultants (part of Arthur D Little).
Accenture have a large pharma. unit.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the advice/encouragement - now i'm encouraged to do something about getting a new job -
