What do people think of Teach First before a career in consulting?

It's a great start.

If you do teach first you will still start on the graduate programme, but in my experience you will be significantly better equipped to make a great impression than someone who is straight out of university.

There's no guarantee you'll progress faster but you certainly have a head start.

I think there would need to be a pretty good story why consulting came as the third choice. You did a degree, but chose to not use it directly, you then went into the prestigious teach first route, but now don't want to be a teacher, now you want to be a consultant?

Whilst teach first is a great programme and provides lots of transferable skills, I'd question why the flitting from one thing to another. May make a perfect consultant!

Teach First is good. I know a number of young girls who really benefited from TF.

With TF, you 'give yourself' to help pupils. MC is the natural progression, where you give yourself to help clients.

I'd BS along those lines.

Haha - I can see the ad campaign tagline now:

"Big Consulting Inc: We give ourselves to you. But more"

*Subject to Ts&Cs, Day 'giving' rates from £1000

According to me, teaching is a great way to become a successful consultant. The reason is, when you start teaching, you will get to know the mind set of your student and this experience will actually help you to become a successful consultant.

So, if you want to become a consultant now, then go ahead. Its a nice department to experience new things and new situations.
